Vocational Qualification in Restaurant and Catering Services

Waiters and waitresses are the heart of the customer service at the restaurants. They are responsible for welcoming the customers, and for the customer service and sales work in a restaurant. The waiters/waitresses, together with other employees, take care of customer satisfaction, the comfort and cleanliness of the customer premises, and the sales of food and beverages. They also manage the cash register functions and different serving methods according to the business idea of the restaurant.

Waiters/waitresses work in many different types of restaurants. Jobs are provided by cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs, nightclubs, fast food restaurants, banquets, hotels, staff restaurants, transport stations and catering companies.

Waiter/waitress has a good knowledge of customer service, food and drink. A good waiter/waitress serves customers naturally and truly enjoys working with people. Other important things in this field are:

Vocational Qualification in Restaurant and Catering Services provides diverse skills for cooking, serving, sales and customer service roles.

The vocational qualification in Restaurant and Catering Services (180 competence points) has two competence areas and qualification titles:

  • competence area of customer service (waiter/waitress) and
  • competence area of food services (cook).
