Congratulations on your child’s study place at Tredu! This letter is aimed at parents and tells about some important things about the start of school year.
The school year starts on August 5th, 2026 (vocational qualifications). The exact time can be seen in the student selection letter sent to the future student’s email.

The information about the study place has been sent to the future student’s email from Opetushallitus. The message contains a link to the reception of the place of study. The study place must be accepted within two weeks of receiving the message.
You should always accept a place to study. If the future student is later selected from their higher application wish, the accepted place can be cancelled. In case the future student is selected for a higher application wish, they will receive a message with a link to the reception of that place of study in Studyinfo. Substitutions are valid until: 14.8.2025.
In addition, the future student has received Tredu’s student selection letter in the email, which tells when school starts and other instructions for starting school.
The letter also contains Wilma’s username, the password will come as a separate email message. Read the letter together with your youngster.
In Wilma the student must fill in the form: Student basic information.

The guardian creates his/her user ID in the Wilma student administration system himself/herself. You can apply for credentials in August, when your youngster’s studies are about to start and his/her field is confirmed.

You can conveniently apply for Student allowance and/or school travel allowance with an online application in OmaKela. In order to the student to be able to apply for the support independently, he/she must have an online banking credentials or a mobile certificate.
The application can be submitted in advance during the summer, but the school travel subsidy ticket can be purchased with “the right to purchase” only two weeks in advance. Students can check their purchase rights in OmaKela. You can also submit a school travel grant application in paper form to the study office after school starts. In that case, however, the customer only gets the right to buy a ticket when Kela has processed the application.

Tredu uses the Tuudo electronic student card, which is activated when the studies begin. The student should download the application to his/her mobile phone in advance from the Google Play Store / App Store. With the student card, the student gets a free meal on school days.

Note! As the Finnish national matriculation examinations are in Finnish, also the language of instruction in high school courses in Tredu is Finnish. Therefore, your child has to be fluent in Finnish in order to be selected to the double degree.
Application for a double degree
You can apply for a double degree using the Wilma form in the student’s Wilma. The student must fill in the section regarding the high school studies, where the grades of the mother tongue/Finnish as a second language, English and mathematics, as well as the average of the theory subjects, are to be filled in. Students who have completed this section will be selected for high school groups, if the grades are good enough. The average value of the future student’s basic education diploma has to at least 7,0 to be selected to study the double degree in Tredu.

Selection to the double degree
For the Tampere campuses, the selection decision will be made at the beginning of July.
