Tredu is a vocational school in Tampere region. If you are finishing basic education and want to apply to Tredu, here is what you need to know. This information is also for parents and student counselors who help students with applications.

Joint Application 2026
To be successful in a joint application, you should remember to act at the right time.
Important dates

Save your application in Studyinfo on the 17th of March 2026 at 3 pm UTC+2 at the latest.
The application for discretionary admission must also be submitted to Tredu before the application period ends.

Check your email if you apply for training that includes entrance and suitability tests, or if your first language is not Finnish. Read more information.

Entrance and suitability tests measure applicants’ ability to work in the chosen field and help select those most suitable for the studies. The tests are free of charge for applicants.
At Tredu, entrance and suitability tests will be organized for applicants in the 2026 joint application for the following programs:
- Aircraft Maintenance (Vocational Qualification)
- Forestry (Vocational Qualification, Forest Machine Operator)
Applicants will receive an invitation to the test by email after the application period ends.

If you apply to Tredu in the joint application and your first language is not Finnish, or you do not have a certificate from Finnish basic education, you will be invited to a language test.

How the Test is Done
The language test includes a written task that measures reading comprehension and writing skills.
The test will take place in Tampere. It cannot be done remotely.
The language test dates for the joint application are 9–10 April 2026.
Applicants will receive an invitation by email to the address given in the joint application in Opintopolku.
There are several starting times for the test, so check your invitation for the exact date and time when you must arrive for registration.
Submitting a Certificate
If you have a certificate of your Finnish language skills, you can attach it to your application in Opintopolku or upload it to Tredu’s Wilma system.
The admissions service will check if your language skills meet the requirements for the qualification.
If your certificate does not show sufficient language skills, you will be invited to the test.
Submit your certificate by uploading it to Wilma by 17 March 2026 (the end of the application period).
The certificate can be scanned as a PDF or photographed, as long as it is readable on a computer screen.

You will receive an email with your selection calculation. It shows:
- The order of your application choices.
- Points from your school certificate and possible entrance exams.
- Any extra points (for example, discretionary selection).
- Your total points and ranking.

You must accept your study place on Studyinfo by the date stated in your results letter in order for your study place to be confirmed for you.

If you are not admitted to your first choice, don’t worry!
You still have a chance to get a higher choice later during the waiting list period.Important:
Please accept the study place you have already received from a lower choice.
If you later get a higher choice, the lower choice will be cancelled automatically.You will stay on the waiting list for your higher choices until the end of the reserve placement period.
Discretionary Selection in the Joint Application
If you have a special support decision in basic education or another valid reason to apply through discretionary selection, mention it in your application.
Mark this information in the designated section and, in addition to the application you fill in Opintopolku, write a free-form application to Tredu.
Submit the free-form application to Tredu by uploading it to the Wilma system during the application period 17 February – 17 March 2026 by 3:00 PM.

Applicant’s Health and Functional Ability
It is important to note already when applying that some vocational qualifications have health or functional ability requirements.
If your health or functional ability is reduced, you should check these requirements before applying.
Certain illnesses or limitations may prevent you from being accepted as a student or completing the qualification.
If you have health-related limitations such as:
- chronic illnesses
- allergies
- vision, hearing, or mobility impairments
you can contact Tredu’s study counsellors. They can give you information about your possibilities to study and work in your chosen field.

Prepare for Application – Explore and Choose Your Best Path
Tredu organizes many events where you can learn about Tredu’s programs, vocational education opportunities, and campuses.
These events are mainly in Finnish and include study counsellors who can answer your questions.
The event description will tell you if the event is on-site or online, whether you need to register, and the date and time.

Applying to English-Language Programs at Tredu
At the same time as the joint application, you can also apply to English-language vocational programs.
For these programs, you must submit an application through continuous admission (not the joint application).
Tredu offers English-language instruction in four Vocational Qualifications.
Application Period and Results
English-language programs are available at the same time as the joint application: 17 February – 17 March 2026.
The application is submitted in Opintopolku, but using a different form than the joint application.

It is possible to receive a study place both through the joint application and in an English-language program via continuous admission.
You will receive the admission decision for the English-language program by email no later than 12 June 2026.
Immigrant Applicants Under 18
If you are under 16 and have just moved to Finland, you can join preparatory education in your home municipality.

If you are over 16 and do not speak Finnish (or your level is below A2.1), you can apply to Adult Basic Education at Tredu.
